Our guide is part of the project Women in Maré, supported by Birkbeck College, University of London, through Global Challenges Research Fund. It is the result of a partnership between the School of Social Service at UFRJ, linked to the Extension Project “Education in Human Rights and Prevention of Violence against Women in Maré", Women´s House of Maré and the Center for Research on Race and Law Birkbeck College.

 

 

 

This material addresses different dimensions and types of care on women's health, understanding that it is important to take care of our body and mind in the different phases and situations that we go through. It’s essential to know and access support networks and to, collectively, find the ways to deal with the events that cross our lives.

In this Guide, you will find basic information and different services available to take care of your physical, mental, sexual and reproductive health, as well as reflect on how to plan your aging. You will also find some ideas for preventing and coping with situations of violence against women or police brutality.

The Women´s House of Maré is open to welcome your doubts and needs and to support you in the situations you are experiencing. It is a space organized by Redes de Desenvolvimento da Maré, with the objective of strengthen the role of women in the changes we want to see and contribute to the improvement of the condition of their lives. May we read this Guide together and increase our engagement to improve the lives of women.
