We strive to promote climate justice, ensuring that vulnerable populations have access to dignified living conditions in the face of environmental impacts that directly affect them.

In addition, we seek to foster the construction of a sustainable neighborhood, capable of tackling environmental challenges through solutions built collectively with residents.

Our work unfolds across key fronts that aim to make a concrete impact in Maré’s daily life:

  • Raising awareness and increasing community engagement on socio-environmental issues;
  • Creating spaces for participation and active listening to build a collective action plan that reflects the community’s knowledge and aspirations.

To achieve these goals, we develop initiatives based on four methodological pillars:

  • Climate Monitoring – Collecting and analyzing data on temperature, air quality, and rainfall, with a focus on producing local knowledge;
  • Low-cost Sustainable Technologies – Implementing replicable solutions that address local needs, such as green roofs, composting systems, and rainwater harvesting;
  • Environmental Education – Training residents and community leaders to strengthen critical awareness and care for the environment;
  • Political Advocacy – Engaging with public authorities to secure rights and public policies aligned with Maré’s reality.
