Since 2006, in partnership with Redes da Maré, Azulejaria develops workshops and numerous art projects with emphasis on the construction of a creative process that involves different artistic languages - literature, painting, drawing - and the direct involvement of residents in the elaboration of a reflection on aspects of life in Maré.
The musical teaching method O Passo, created by musician and educator Lucas Ciavatta and the basis of all the work of Instituto d'O Passo, has been present in different projects and actions of Redes da Maré since the beginning of the 2000s. Whether in workshops at the Free Dance School of Maré, in collaborations with projects such as Maré sem Fronteiras, or in shows by Bloco d’O Passo at Maré Arts Center or at Cultural Canvas Herbert Vianna.
Bringing these partnerships together, the Art and Music Nucleus at Maré intended to strengthen the dialogue between workshops in different artistic languages. The inspiration for this dialogue came from the methodologies of both, where listening and collective construction are common characteristics
Faced with the challenge of carrying out the project in the pandemic, two other projects by Redes da Maré were also added: the Lima Barreto Popular Library and the Not One Less in an effort to reach the children and adolescents in Maré.
