PROJECT

Redes da Maré's Art and Music Nucleus - 2020 was supported by the ISS Law and was designed in partnership with Instituto d’O Passo and Azulejaria.

The objective of the Nucleus was to make possible the realization of music and arts workshops, aiming at the integral development of children and young people, from non-formal educational experiences, through the continued experience for one year.

With the pandemic, the workshops were postponed and took place virtually, from August 2020 to June 2021, through chat apps due to internet connection limits by its main audience: children and teenagers already registered in other Redes da Maré´s projects.

The workshops held were: “A Maré é Som” and “Passos Sonoros”, gathered in the same exchange group and in partnership with the Lima Barreto Library; “Playing with Art”, partnership with the project Not One Less and Guitar Workshop.

THE PARTNERSHIPS

The Art and Music Nucleus at Maré intended to strengthen the dialogue between workshops of different artistic languages, bringing together the partnerships of Instituto d’O Passo and Azulejaria. The inspiration for this dialogue came from the methodologies of both, where listening and collective construction are common characteristics.

Since 2006, in partnership with Redes da Maré, Azulejaria develops workshops and numerous art projects with emphasis on the construction of a creative process that involves different artistic languages - literature, painting, drawing - and the direct involvement of residents in the elaboration of a reflection on aspects of life in Maré.

The musical teaching method O Passo, created by musician and educator Lucas Ciavatta and the basis of all the work of Instituto d'O Passo, has been present in different projects and actions of Redes da Maré since the beginning of the 2000s. Whether in workshops at the Free Dance School of Maré, in collaborations with projects such as Maré sem Fronteiras, or in shows by Bloco d’O Passo at Maré Arts Center or at Cultural Canvas Herbert Vianna.

Bringing these partnerships together, the Art and Music Nucleus at Maré intended to strengthen the dialogue between workshops in different artistic languages. The inspiration for this dialogue came from the methodologies of both, where listening and collective construction are common characteristics

Faced with the challenge of carrying out the project in the pandemic, two other projects by Redes da Maré were also added: the Lima Barreto Popular Library and the Not One Less in an effort to reach the children and adolescents in Maré.
